June and July have historically been busy months in the Filipino American community, with Philippine Independence Day in June, Philippine American Friendship Day in July, and various events scattered in between.
In June, we celebrated the 3rd anniversary of our Grand Opening on June 11th. We were also fortunate to be involved in the Philippine Independence Day Celebration, an event co-hosted by the Philippine Independence Day Foundation, Inc. (PIDF) and the City of Carson at Veterans Park. This was followed by the Carson City Council official presentation of the Philippine Independence Day Certificate during the City Council Meeting on June 7th, then by the Kalayaan Inc. Gala at Hyatt Regency Orange County on June 11th, and a Dinner Reception hosted by the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles at the Carson Event Center.
The LA Dodgers hosted their Filipino Heritage Night game at Dodger Stadium on July 7th and the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) hosted LA County’s largest Philippine American Friendship Day celebration in Cerritos at Don Knabe Community Regional Park on July 9th.
Additionally, we were also able to support SoCal Filipinos had their 2nd-anniversary party at Kubo Long Beach on June 18th and as our partners at the FilAm Chamber of Commerce of SouthBay LA Area (FACC-SLAA) celebrated their 10th anniversary with a Casino Royale Encore Gala at The Centre in Lakewood on July 23rd.
Lastly, we were able to attend the Fleet Reserve Association Installation of Officers & the Filipino Community of Carson meeting on June 12th, Coffee with the Carson Sheriff’s Station on June 22nd, the FACC-SLAA Networking Mixer on June 23rd, the Coalition of FilAm Chambers of Commerce Summer Luau Mega Mixer on July 29th, and the Miss Filipina International Beauty Pageant Coronation Night on July 30th.
